Dogl: Transforming Calculus Education in New Markets
Dogl, a pioneering edtech startup, wanted to expand its calculus app into the U.S. market by targeting educators in higher education.
Challenge:
The challenge was identifying the right market segments and understanding their needs to build a strategy for adoption.
Solution:
We conducted in-depth market research, identifying smaller institutions (~2,000 students) and community colleges as ideal early adopters. We also developed a scalable product strategy to address key pain points like quiz creation and student engagement.
Results:
-
Secured interest from a number of institutions, including the U.S. Naval Academy and Hamilton College, to pilot the app.
-
Recommended a lightweight, scalable version tailored for educators.
-
Delivered a focused “land and expand” strategy to build long-term adoption
Driving Adoption in the U.S. Higher Education Market:
With our support, Dogl is now equipped to enter the U.S. market with a focused "land and expand" strategy, leveraging pilot programs to build relationships and drive adoption within departments. This project showcases how Dogl is positioned to revolutionise calculus education across higher education.
Why Dogl Stands Out:
Dogl’s calculus app transforms both the learning & lesson experience. Designed for both students and educators, the app combines interactive features, tailored quizzes, and cutting-edge technology to simplify complex calculus concepts. By targeting educators as advocates, Dogl bridges the gap between traditional teaching methods and modern, engaging solutions.

The Local: Expanding with Corporate Memberships
We collaborated with The Local, a leading English-language news platform in Europe operating in 9 markets, to explore the potential of a corporate membership offering.
Through a detailed SWOT analysis, we evaluated their market position, identified key opportunities, and developed actionable recommendations to help them tailor their services for organisations looking to enhance employee engagement and retention.
Challenge:
The Local had successfully grown its individual membership base but wanted to expand into the corporate market. The challenge was to define a clear target audience, align pricing structures, and create a corporate membership offering that would resonate with organisations across their nine European markets.
Solution:
Dixon & Axelsson conducted an in-depth analysis to assess The Local’s corporate potential. We evaluated trends in employee engagement and employer branding, highlighting opportunities to position The Local’s trusted, region-specific content as a tool for supporting expat employees. Our recommendations included launching a pilot program in Sweden to test and refine the offering before scaling.
Results:
This collaboration provided The Local with a clear roadmap for entering the corporate membership market, leveraging their strengths to meet organisational needs.
